HAC General Meeting & New Officer Elections

Thursday, April 21, 2016
- Call to Order: Chair Raytan Vares called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
- Quorum: Quorum established. Present were Raytan Vares, Pohai Ryan, Wendell Hosea, Don Aweau, Kūhiō Lewis, Reena Rabago, Michael Golojuch Jr., Juanita Brown Kawamoto, Mahealani Cypher, Kehau Watson-Sproat, Elmer Kaai, Tyler Dos Santos-Tam, Russ Hardy, Rhonda Roldan; by teleconference Keali’i Lopez.
- New Business:
a. New Officer Elections: Raytan opened the floor to nominations, and began with the Chair position, he added that only Leimomi Khan expressed interest in being Chair. Raytan shared that he would like to continue with the Executive Committee, and is interested in being 1st Vice Chair. No other nominations were made for Chair or 1st Vice Chair.
Action Taken: Motioned by Pohai, seconded by Juanita that Leimomi Khan be elected Chair of the HAC with the condition that Raytan Vares is elected 1st Vice Chair. Motion approved.
Nominations opened for 2nd Vice Chair. Both Keali’i and Pohai expressed interest in the position.
Action Taken: Motioned by Mahealani, seconded by Wendell that Keali’i Lopez is nominated 2nd Vice Chair. Motioned by Kehau, seconded by Elmer that Pohai Ryan is nominated 2nd Vice Chair. Motions approved.
Voting done by a show of hands. Keali’i received 4 votes. Pohai received 7 votes.
Pohai Ryan was elected 2nd Vice Chair of the HAC
Nominations opened for Treasurer. Donald Aweau expressed interest in the position. No other nominations were received.
Action Taken: Kehau motioned, Elmer seconded that Donald Aweau be elected Treasurer of the HAC. Motion approved.
Nominations opened for Secretary. Rhonda shared that she would like to continue as Secretary. No other nominations were received.
Action Taken: Kehau motioned, Elmer seconded that Rhonda Roldan be elected Secretary of the HAC. Motion approved.
Nominations for O’ahu-At-Large Representative opened. Keali’i Lopez expressed interest in the position. No other nominations received.
Action Taken: Mahealani motioned, Pohai seconded that Keali’i Lopez be elected Oahu-At-Large Representative. Motion approved.
No nominations or action taken for the remaining Neighbor Island At-Large Representative seats. Elections to be held at the July General Membership Meeting.
Nominations for SCC Female and Male Representative opened. Mahealani shared that she is interested in the SCC Female Representative seat. Kūhiō shared that he would like to continue as SCC Male Representative. No other nominations received.
Action Taken: Elmer motioned, Kehau seconded that Mahealani Cypher and Kūhiō Lewis is elected SCC Female and Male Representative for the HAC. Motion approved.
b. Guest speakers: Reena Rabago, O’ahu County Committee Chairperson for the DPH O’ahu County gave an update on the upcoming DPH Convention, as well as answered questions regarding the O’ahu County Convention.
Raytan offered Tyler Dos Santos-Tam and Keali’i Lopez time to address members regarding their priorities and goals for the DPH, as candidates for State Party Chair. Both answered questions posed from members.
