1. Why are you running for office?
I am running for office to represent the interests of all peoples, including Native Hawaiians, and their interests, culture and future.
2. What are your views about Hawaiian self-governance? In your capacity as a legislator, what action, if any, would you advocate in support of Hawaiian self- governance?
I support Hawaiian self-governance and would advocate on Native Hawaiian issues including self-governance.
3. When it comes to Native Hawaiian issues, what do you perceive your role as a legislator to be? What ways can you, if elected, support Native Hawaiian concerns through your legislative abilities? If elected, describe specific Native Hawaiian bill ideas that you would be willing to propose or support for the advancement of Native Hawaiians.
I perceive the role of legislator is to communicate, represent and advocate Native Hawaiian issues in coordination with the Native Hawaiian Community as they are addressed. Thru my legislative abilities I can speak to the legislature and government entities to further education and due consideration to Native Hawaiian governance and cultural rights.
If elected I would introduce legislation to acquire water rights for Native Hawaiians for both residential and agricultural purposes.
I would also support more adequate funding for the management of Hawaiian Home Lands processes to speed up and complete the acquisition of properties for Native Hawaiians.
